In the second evolution era ("Expansion Era"), players can build a holly shrine in their city and start recruiting missionaries in the tavern. You can (and should) start doing worship in the wholly shrine inside your city and set your best missionary to it. After a while, you should start gaining teritory around your city. As your teritory starts growing, you can build temples on it and spread them out, as your teritory expands to cover even more with their influence.

Teritory:
Teritory is usefull, as you can use heroes to collect items from collection points and recruit taxes from other players' cities, that are in your area of influence / on your teritroy. But much more importantly, with teritory you get a nation bonus, depending in which nation you play. The amount of teritory needed to the maximul bonus limit is 1.000 teritory, at which point you get a 10% nation bonus. Any extra teritory after 1.000 won't bring you a bigger bonus anymore and is mostly only for rank lists.

When your city is neighboured by the teritory of other players, you will be able to take over teritory from them when your civilisation value will be higher than theirs. That can be achieved either by worshipping and dispatching missionaries to your temples or by slandering their city and / or temples. Be warned hat slandering an active player will result in some response actions from that player. If another player is slandering your city or your temple, his influenced will depend on the piety of the missionary from inside the temple. In this case, you can use one of your missionaries (preferably one with high slander points) to resist his missionary.

When your city is located in a crowded area, you can use camps to gain more teritory, as you can build holly shrines inside camps too and temples around them. You can even use this to reach a collection point, if you can't do it at your city: simply build a camp near a collection point. It should be noted that you can't dispatch missionaries to your camps.

Temples:
The maximum limit for temples that you can build increases with fame. You can destroy your own temples and spread them / move them as your teritory grows, to cover a bigger area of influence. If your area of influence / your teritory includes temples that belong to other players, you can destroy them.

Missionaries:
You can use missionaries for worshipping inside city holly shrine / temples, for missionarising on the edges o your teritory, to slander other players' cities and temples down, to resist enemy missionaries that are slandering your temple / city. It must be noted that dispatching missionaries to do worship inside a temple is much more effective for both leveling the missionary and teritorial growth / gains, compared to using them to missionarise on the map. And slandering an active player will most likely result in an hostile reaction from that player.
